Putting Instruction Sequences into Effect
نویسنده
چکیده
An attempt is made to define the concept of execution of an instruction sequence. It is found to be a special case of directly putting into effect of an instruction sequence. Directly putting into effect of an instruction sequences comprises interpretation as well as execution. Directly putting into effect is a special case of putting into effect with other special cases classified as indirectly putting into effect. Indirectly putting into effect an instruction sequence refers to a class of mechanical processes by default, which includes mechanisms making use of preparatory transformations and compilations of the entire instruction sequence or of significant parts thereof, where the transformations and compilations are themselves produced by means of putting yet other instruction sequences into effect. Returning to instruction sequence execution, its initial informal definition is: directly putting into effect an instruction sequence in such a way that it does not represent a form of interpretation, where a method of directly putting into effect is considered an interpretation if it represents an instance of the functionality produced by putting some other instruction sequence into effect (either directly or indirectly).

The Effect of Explicit Instruction of Formulaic Sequences on Oral Proficiency Improvement of Young Iranian EFL Students
Abstract This study aimed to shed light on young Iranian EFL students’ oral proficiency improvement through explicit instruction of formulaic sequences (FSs). This pretest-posttest quasi experimental study was conducted in a bilingual school in Shahrekord, Iran. Accordingly, based on ACTFL OPI test, two groups of low intermediate students with age range of 11 to 12 were chosen to be assigned as...

متن کاملDeveloping EFL Learners' Oral Proficiency through Animation-based Instruction of English Formulaic Sequences
The current pretest-posttest quasi-experimental study attempts, firstly, to probe the effects of teaching formulaic sequences (FSs) on the second or foreign language (L2) learners' oral proficiency improvement and secondly, to examine whether teaching FSs through different resources (i.e. animation vs. text-based readings) have any differentially influential effects in augmenting L2 l...
متن کاملThread Extraction for Polyadic Instruction Sequences
In this paper, we study the phenomenon that instruction sequences are split into fragments which somehow produce a joint behaviour. In order to bring this phenomenon better into the picture, we formalize a simple mechanism by which several instruction sequence fragments can produce a joint behaviour. We also show that, even in the case of this simple mechanism, it is a non-trivial matter to exp...
متن کاملEfficient Virus Detection Using Dynamic Instruction Sequences
In this paper, we present a novel approach to detect unknown virus using dynamic instruction sequences mining techniques. We collect runtime instruction sequences from unknown executables and organize instruction sequences into basic blocks. We extract instruction sequence patterns based on three types of instruction associations within derived basic blocks. Following a data mining process, we ...
